The event was organized to give certificates and cash prizes to the winners of the art competition held in line with the International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week of Action 2019. Among 69 paintings received, 30 winners were selected to give cash prizes and certificates. The remaining certificates will be sent to the students via post.
Participants were made aware on the effects of lead poisoning and history of CEJ in making Sri Lankan paint lead safe by Mr. Hemantha Withanage, ED. Sources of lead poisoning and making lead safe choices was explained by Mrs. Chalani Rubesinghe, S. Environmental Officer. While Mr. Nazar, Lanka Paint Solutions talked about selecting the right paint, Mr. Nuwan from Multilac taught children about being environmental friendly. Many students, teachers and parents shared their views on the completion and the program. Winners representing, Vidhyakara girls’ college, Maharagama; Balangoda Ananda Maithrie Madhya maha Vidyalaya; Bogaswewa Vidyalaya, Vauniya; Medagama Abhaya Aadharsha maha Vidyalaya Along with teachers and parents; media representatives; Mr. Nuwan Prasanna, Senior Sales Manager, Multilac and Mr. Nazar, Managing Director, Lanka Paint Solutions joined the event. The event was convened by Mr. Gamini Piyarathna, Assistant field coordinator, CEJ. Mr. Hemantha WIthanage, ED; Mr. Dilena Pathragoda, MD; Mr. Ranjan Karunaratne, Media officer; Mrs. Chalani Rubesinghe, S. Environmental Officer represented CEJ at the event.
