CEJ started the year 2021 in the chaos of Covid 19 pandemic. Sri Lanka started rolling out vaccines against Covid 19 in early 2021. Attention on environment safeguard was weakening compared to the previous year and more focus on saving the economy was observed in the actions and decisions made during this year which resulted in a series of environmentally destructive events in the country including deforestation. As an outburst of a long awaited protest among activists, environmentalists, the campaign “Ecocide” organized in March.
