Center For Environmental Justice filed a fundamental rights petition, in the Supreme Court on 24th of November 2023, challenging the alleged irregularities in the licensing process, for foreign companies that conducted excavations at the Eppawala phosphate deposit. The petitioners asserted that the approval granted to foreign firms was obtained through the use of forged documents resulting in substantial financial losses for the state. Case is fixed for Support on 21st of February 2024.
