Goal: Work towards ensuring adequate environmental laws adhering with international conventions, are in place and enforced.
CEJ will ensure the presence, revision, and updating of comprehensive environmental laws, policies, and regulations; ensure politicians and public officials possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and a supportive attitude for endorsing and upholding sustainable environmental laws and regulations; establish accountability among politicians and public officials in the enforcement of robust environmental laws; empower the public to be vigilant and influential in decision-making processes; ensure the enforcement and alignment of environmental laws with international conventions, ensure that enforcement agencies and officers operate without corruption and remain free from political bias; promote a knowledgeable and well-informed cadre of enforcement officers regarding the environmental legal framework; educate the public about environmental legal remedies and encourage their active advocacy for their enforcement; encourage public participation in bridging gaps in the environmental legal system and its enforcement and empower the public with awareness and the ability to resolve conflicts related to natural resources through alternative mechanisms.
