Centre for Environmental Justice organized The National Symposium on Human-Elephant Conflict on “Human-Elephant Conflict in Sri Lanka: Lessons Learnt during 2000 – 2020” on 19th March 2021 at the Waters Edge Hotel.
Since the human-elephant conflict is a complex environmental, socioeconomic, and political concern affecting the country, CEJ was planned to review the country’s experience of human-elephant conflict in the last two decades with the objective of identifying more realistic approaches towards coexistence. This is the very reason the CEJ decided to hold this symposium and CEJ systematically assembled the work of Sri Lankan researchers under three broad themes and we present those three technical sessions accordingly.
