Upcoming Event : International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week of Action 2020

The celebration of lead poisoning prevention week of action is an occasion to remind people on lead poisoning and prevention. Thereby to make them being cautious of lead poisoning sources.
Assuring lead safety is a mission CEJ initiated in 2009 and ever since CEJ has conducted various activities to aware general public as well as paint manufacturers and regulatory bodies of Sri Lanka and hopefully convinced them enough to eliminate the use of lead in household decorative paints. This year CEJ will celebrate the eighth (8th) successful International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week of action.
CEJ has plans to conduct a series of awareness sessions (virtually, due to the pandemic situation) for the week of action 2021. CEJ will release its latest findings on the lead concentration in household decorative paints. In addition, releasing a video on the lead contamination, social media campaign, distributing awareness materials among the general public are in-line for the week.
International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week of Action, is an initiative of the Global Alliance to Eliminate Lead Paint (the Lead Paint Alliance), in which CEJ is also a partner and is jointly led by UNEP (United Nations Environment Program) and WHO (World Health Organization). The main objective of this is to promote phasing out lead contaminated paint throughout the globe by establishing legal measures which binds manufacturing, distribution, sale and use.
