Centre for Environmental justice conducted a legal awareness for communities living around Wedithalthiv lagoon. Wedithalthiv was gazetted as a Nature reserve in 2016 as a result of Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment after the 30 years of war. However, in 2017 National Aquatic Resource Development Authority came up with a plan to promote Shrimp farming in a 1500 hectare area. Shrimp farming is often associated with negative environmental impact including water pollution, biodiversity loss, clearing mangroves etc . CEJ organized a legal awareness for local fisherman at SEACOLOGY Centre Conference hall, on 2020.12.29
