Our History
The Centre for Environmental Justice (CEJ) is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation based in Sri Lanka, initiated by a small group of passionate environmentalists in 2004 and was registered as an environmental organisation under the companies’ act in 2006. While CEJ believes that all living things have an equal right to nature’s resources, it is every citizen’s responsibility to care for the environment. Hence, over the past 18 years, CEJ has made it its mission to protect the environmental rights of the people and rights of nature equally, while promoting ecological solutions through mobilisation, litigation, and policy reform.
